Common questions
How does the £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant work?
As your MCS-certified installer we apply for the grant on your behalf and deduct the full £7,500 from your quote upfront — you never pay it and claim it back. You need to own the home and have a valid EPC with no outstanding loft or cavity wall insulation recommendations.
Do heat pumps work in freezing UK winters?
Yes. Modern air source heat pumps keep heating efficiently down to -10°C and below, still delivering around 2-3 units of heat for every unit of electricity on the coldest days. We size every system to your home's heat loss at local design temperatures.
Will a heat pump cost more to run than my gas boiler?
In most well-designed installations, running costs are similar to or lower than gas — especially on a heat pump tariff or paired with solar and a battery. You also drop the gas standing charge if you go fully electric.
Can I keep my boiler as a backup?
Yes — a hybrid heat pump + boiler setup is a good option for older homes not yet ready for radiator upgrades. Note the full £7,500 grant applies only when the heat pump replaces the fossil-fuel boiler entirely.
Do I need new radiators?
Sometimes a few need upsizing. The heat-loss survey tells us exactly which, before you commit.
Will it work in winter?
Yes. Units are rated to -20°C and are sized to your coldest design day.
